1. Between Your Lines

I’m sick and I’m tired
of these empty days,
When there’s nothing going on,
I wonder does anything remain of
Everything we had before?

I’m always waiting
for a different light
or fortune to come to town,
I was meant to be your satellite
now this light is long long gone.

We cannot stay in here,
we’re wasting away our days
We’re like a brand new link stuck
in the same old chain.

You can´t find a different meaning
In words you’ve used before
So many tears you lose your sight
and lay your wishes down.

You know full well this ain’t our fate
but I told you yesterday
That any road can be your own
So dont´t let it slip away.

We cannot stay in here,
we’re wasting away our days
We’re like a brand new link stuck
in the same old chain.

You´re not the kind of woman, no
who cries over everything
Let me read between your lines
I want to know how it feels…
You´re not the kind of woman, no
who cries over everything
Let me read between your line
I just wanna feel the pain
you’ve got in your heart.

(Morris, Magaña)

2. Dance Around The Bonfire

Heavy drops of rain leak through
holes in this roof
And I drown in my shame looking for
clues in this spoof
I’ve got every word you said like a
tattooed in my brain
I’m staring at the ceiling,
lying on my bed.
I try, not to break the silence so
I simply whispered your name.

I’m blinded by the light,
more than I’ve ever been before
My eyes are open wide,
but what I see is a blur
A world of empty streets has become
my reocurring dream
Though it’s all in my head, it feels
as real as it can be
As it can be.

I lead a simple life but
I´m still unfullfilled
And the things I treasure most are
bursting at the seams
A world of silent ghosts has become
my recurring dream
Though it’s all in my head
it feels as real as it can be
As it can be.

At night I dance around the bonfire
Beneath the pale moonlight and the stars
I dance in circles round the bonfire
And I know the night is mine.

No matter how hard you try,
you won´t avoid your fate
You’re still waiting for your turn
when you find out it’s too late
While a million empty thoughts
are racing through your head
Now you know how it feels to walk
among the living dead.

(Morris, Escutia)

3. Can You Feel It

When you look up and everything is huge
and you can’t see the sky
close your eyes
When your body shrinks and you are
scared to death and everything is tense
close your eyes.

Can you hear, can you feel?
Somebody’s out there.

When people walk past you in a crowd
and avoid catching your eye
open your mind
If you can hear the sound of footsteps
on your trail
and you feel mighty trapped
close your eyes.

Can you hear, can you feel?
Somebody’s out there.

Can you hear, can you feel?
Somebody’s out there.

Unfurl your wings and try to relax
‘Cos you will soar until the sun melts the wax.

When you have your shadow stolen by a stranger
in the never ending rain
close your eyes.
When your heart is darker than the blackest night
and you lose your sight
open your mind.

(Morris)

4. Hide And Seek

Do you remember at the start
you had a dream
But now it’s just a wake-up call
I can´t abide the reason why
we´re getting old
It´s gonna come as no surprise once
and for all.

What can I hide in an empty room
What can I seek if all’s lost
A stitch in time saves nine,
that’s what they say
An I still chasing your ghost ?

They say “just ease your worried mind”
and rest a while
But I’ve been idle all these years
With all the wrinkles on my face
and in my heart
I find it hard to shed my tears.

(Morris, Magaña)

5. Pulling Rabbits Out of Hats

I travelled on each and every road
I travelled far and wide
But I’m back where I started
I’m close to your heart

I had my ups and downs
I’ve been pulling rabbits out of hats
But I’m back on my feet
I’m close to your heart

I hid my face behind a mask
‘Till I no longer knew who I was
I came out of the haze
I’m close to your heart

I was against the ropes
And I never threw in the towel
But I’m back on my feet
I’m close to your heart

New day, It’s a brand new day,
Let’s make a brand new start
Brand new day,
Let’s make a brand new start

I travelled on each and every road
And whether I was right or wrong
Any road I’d take
Took me back to your door

I was on a loser streak
But I’m beginning to see the light
And I’m back on my feet
I’m close to your heart.

(Morris, Escutia)

6. I Lie At Least Three Times At Night

Could you hear me through the distance?
As the wind blew back your hair
Did you strain your eyes
trying to read my lips
As I was mumbling Fare Thee Well.

Have no fear. Have no fear,
I won’t stray from the path
Have no fear.

Who could dare to steal your thunder?
Who could dare to sell you a lie?
You knew all they said about me
and they were right
I lie at least three times a night.

Have no fear. Have no fear,
I won’t stray from the path
Have no fear.

When everybody’s gone,
before they dim the lights.
I feel I’m out of place,
I know I’ve gone too far.

The lines across my face,
are like a telltale sign.
End up the same old way,
trying to relive the past.

I get lost in a stranger,
trapped in a nameless room.
But no amount of shadows
could turn her into you.

And when the harm is done,
when there’s no turning back.
I’ll wish I were somewhere else,
somewhere really far.

All my worn out excuses,
do not amount to much.
However much I fool myself,
I’m simply losing touch.
And that’s the awful truth.

(Morris, Escutia)

7. Records For a Sunday Morning

Drop the needle on the vinyl
Do it quick, come back to bed
You know we have nothing to do
And a whole new day ahead.

We don’t have to speak
We don’t have to say a thing
So leave your troubles at the door
Forget about the world
We might as well stay in
Tell me, who could ask for more?
Today our lives will spin
You can count on this.

At thirty-three and a third
There’s nothing else I’d rather do
Than be with you
And these Sunday records for two.

We can lie here skin to skin
And throw caution to the wind
You know anything can happen
When I’m with you and you’re with me.

(Morris, Escutia)

8. The Man With The Wicked Smile

One day he came from out of nowhere
a wicked smile on his face
Spreading pearls of wisdom
and lots of promises he never kept.

He had a word of hope
For every ear
He was all looks and charm
How could we ever fall for that?

Way back when, in his heyday
we believed nothing could go wrong
But good intentions and blind faith
weren’t meant to last that long.

He told us what to do
And we all followed suit
He was all looks and charm
How could we ever fall for that?

How could you break a nation’s heart?
How dare you look us in the eye?
One day you’re gonna pay for that
Go back where you belong
We´ve had enough of your kind.

His promises wore out
Like most of them always do
And when the dream was gone
we had to face up to the truth.

He fooled me and you
Like false prophets do
He was all looks and charm
How could we ever fall for that?

(Morris, Escutia)

9. Has Beens And Never Beens

I’m starting to think
this is no longer fun
I must assume I’m not the only one
Whatever happened
to whoever we were?
We´re nothing but shadows
of our former selves.

Does anyone here
remember ’66?
Who could have known
we’d end up like this?
We’re the landed gentry,
we´re like your worst dream
Can’t even remember
who we used to be.

When you’re against the ropes
And your luck is hanging upside down
When you’re out of hopes
Just remember you once wore the crown.

We used to chase
the dragon all night
We held the world
in the palms of our hands
It was good for a while
but it didn’t last long
All there is now
is this boring swan song.

(Morris, V. Magaña, Escutia)

10. Alexandra

I get lost in your eyes and
see the girl you were before
Now they reveal to me
the fine young woman you´ve become.

From your first breath of life
I´d cradle you in my arms
And silence screamed in hungry words.

You, young lady of my heart
You could never break apart
My world created by your love.

Life went on and you took
the best in me and so much more
The wind blew through your dreams,
and a wolf slept at your door.

From your first breath of life
I´d cradle you in my arms
And silence screamed in hungry words.

You, young lady of my heart
You could never bread apart
My world created by your love.

In your deep dark eyes I see
the dreams I had before
It´s time you went your own
way now and close this door.

So smile and dance while you still can
Enjoy your precious time
Yours truly, your partner in crime.

I look at you and what I see
is beyond my wildest dreams
I thought I´d let you know
that to me you´re everything.

Am I not making myself clear?
Cos you´re what makes me real
Yours truly, your partner in crime.
My world created by your love.

(Morris)

11. On a Wire

I became part of your collection
on a dreadful summer night
A notch for every soul you trapped,
a notch for every broken heart
At times like this
I wish I could turn back the clock
At times like this
all I can do is carry on.

I paced the floors waiting up for you,
well, far too many times
I’ve drowned my demons in a bottle,
seen the outline of your lies
I’ve wallowed in self pity and bled inside
I’ve stooped so low
I cannot hold my head up high.

Hope you’re doing well in your private hell
with your rather empty life
Keep the distance, stay away
and let sleeping dogs lie
One day I’ll look back on this and laugh
But for now, my love,
you can kiss my ass goodbye.

Ohhh, I feel I’m walking on a wire
I’m walking on a wire with fire in my eyes.

I will not waste my breath
Talking about the past
I’m on a different page tonight
I will not make amends
Or try to make things right
I’m on a different page tonight
And I swear, I swear,
I swear that I don’t mind

(Morris, Escutia)

12. Not Afraid of Dreaming

Close your eyes and lift the stars up
so your sky is filled with light
And let your soul be caught
in your own dreams
Don’t let anyone dare
to steal your dry tears
I wonder what would happen
if you gave up the fight
Throw punches in the wind
and scream ‘till your voice is gone
Make up your own rules
and stick to your guns.

Hang on to your dreams
It all comes down to this
Hang on to your dreams
Cos you can do anything

Let your kite fly high until
it’s out of sight
Do what you need to do
to get some peace of mind
Don’t follow any road,
don’t follow any signs
Things always happen
That’s why…

(Morris)

13. Precious Moments

I ´m looking for you
Everywhere I go
I feel something is
happening in my head.

Try to loosen up
And make yourself at home
This round’s on me
Let’s have another beer.

We’ve nothing to lose
In our simple lives
We are happy
I can see it in your eyes.

I know it now
As I knew back then
We need these precious moments
every day.

(Morris)
